With the largest Air Force installation in the world to anchor its economy and stimulate its industrial growth, Okaloosa’s economic development thrives in a diverse business atmosphere. In addition to Okaloosa County's BRAC related growth, and despite the tough economic times, Okaloosa County continues to sustain a strong economy supported by continual defense-related industrial growth.

Okaloosa County’s reputation as a technology leader in Northwest Florida has prompted developers to construct “smart” buildings and “teleparks” to address the growing need to put tenants immediately in touch with global markets via state-of-the-art telecommunications.

Okaloosa County's Business Technology Incubator
In 2009, the Okaloosa EDC applied for and was awarded a state grant to support the development of a business technology incubator. A business incubator is designed to assist start-up companies by providing office space, furniture and equipment with shared administrative personnel in order to facilitate the hatchling businesses establish themselves. Incubators are a means to success for today's entrepreneurs. Okaloosa's incubator is located in Fort Walton Beach at the University of West Florida Combs Campus.

Okaloosa County offers a variety of prime business locations including six industrial sites strategically positioned and easily accessible. Okaloosa is located between Pensacola and Panama City, both providing deep water ports, and provides easy access to New Orleans, Atlanta, and Jacksonville.
